Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Fashion Designer to join our team in empowering rural women. This position offers the opportunity to use your creativity and expertise to design culturally relevant, marketable, and sustainable fashion that generates income and economic independence for rural women. You will work closely with our team and the women directly, providing design guidance, training, and resources.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop fashion collections that are culturally appropriate, marketable, and ethically produced.
- Conduct needs assessments and workshops to understand the skills and aspirations of rural women in fashion design.
- Provide training and mentorship to rural women in design, sewing, and business skills.
- Source sustainable and locally available materials for production.
- Develop marketing strategies and collaborate with partners to promote and sell the women’s creations.
- Manage budgets and track project progress.
- Stay informed about current trends and innovations in sustainable fashion.
