PURE India Trust recently launched the ‘Say No to Plastic Bags’ campaign, advocating for sustainable alternatives and promoting environmental responsibility. As part of this initiative, we distributed handmade cotton bags crafted by rural women from Nirjhari, a women artisans’ producer company dedicated to empowering women through skill development and financial independence.

These eco-friendly bags played a central role in a corporate engagement activity, where employees transformed them into creative artistic pieces, reinforcing the importance of sustainability. The campaign was further strengthened by the active participation of college interns, who distributed the bags and raised awareness about the detrimental impact of plastic waste.

Impact of the Initiative

Empowering Rural Women – The campaign provided Nirjhari women artisans with livelihood opportunities, supporting their economic independence.

Corporate Engagement – Employees participated in a meaningful activity, creatively repurposing the cotton bags and fostering environmental consciousness.

Youth Involvement – College interns gained hands-on experience in social impact initiatives, actively promoting sustainable practices.

Behavioral Change – One of the most significant outcomes of the campaign was an immediate shift in public perception. As awareness spread, many individuals voluntarily replaced plastic bags with the eco-friendly cotton alternatives distributed during the initiative.

By choosing sustainability over convenience, this initiative inspired communities to take a small yet impactful step toward a cleaner, greener future. 🌱♻️
